What is happening locally
Cheniere took a final investment decision on Corpus Christi Liquefaction Midscale Trains 8 and 9 in June 2025 and issued full notice to proceed to Bechtel. The trains are being built next to the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 project in San Patricio County, with expected capacity of more than 3 million tonnes per year. The project was more than 50 percent complete by September 2026.
Refinery and petrochemical turnarounds along the Corpus Christi ship channel bring short, intense crew surges on top of that. Gregory, Portland, and Ingleside have little lodging of their own, which is why contractors look at owned units on private land near the plant gate.
Permits and site
Coastal counties sit in higher HUD wind zones, so unit specifications and tie-downs must match the county. Inside Corpus Christi, Portland, or Gregory, start with city zoning.
