How many units for 50, 100, or 200 workers?

With one worker per private room, 50 workers need 10 five-room crew units or 8 seven-room sleepers. 100 workers need 20 five-room units or 15 sleepers. 200 workers need 40 five-room units or 29 sleepers. Sleepers have no kitchen, so camps built on sleepers also need dining. Add a few rooms for supervisors and turnover.

Unit counts by crew size

The math assumes one worker per private room, which is how our units are laid out: every room has its own bath.

Workers 5-room crew units 7-room sleepers 4-suite units
50 10 units (50 rooms) 8 units (56 rooms) 13 units (52 rooms)
100 20 units (100 rooms) 15 units (105 rooms) 25 units (100 rooms)
200 40 units (200 rooms) 29 units (203 rooms) 50 units (200 rooms)

To get your own number, divide the headcount by the rooms per unit and round up, or use the crew housing calculator, which also gives a rough footprint and build time.

Which model fits which camp

Many camps mix them: sleepers for the craft crew, a few suite units for supervisors.

What else the site needs

Unit count is only part of the plan. Leave room for truck parking, fire lanes, wastewater, and dining if you choose sleepers. See man camp layout, how many units fit on an acre, and what utilities a man camp needs.

More questions

How many crew units do I need for 50 workers?

10 five-room crew units, or 8 seven-room sleepers (56 rooms), or 13 four-suite units (52 rooms), assuming one worker per private room.

How many sleeper units for 100 workers?

15 seven-room sleepers give 105 rooms. With 5-room sleepers, 20 units give exactly 100. Sleepers have no kitchen, so plan a dining hall or caterer.

How many units for a 200-person man camp?

40 five-room crew units, or 29 seven-room sleepers (203 rooms), plus dining, laundry, and any office or supervisor units your camp needs.

Should I order a few extra rooms?

Usually. Supervisors, visiting staff, and crew turnover overlap. Many buyers add a few rooms or a suite unit for supervisors. Tell us your headcount and shift pattern, and our team will help size the order.
